Pan fried chicken tenders with liver sauce
I’ve never been a huge fan of livers, but that’s been turning around for the past couple of years. I hate waste. So when I buy a whole chicken, I have to do something with the liver. At first that meant sauteing with onions in some butter, but I like this much better.
The chicken tenders were lightly coated in flour and pan fried. I then cooked some onions and garlic, then added...

New toy
Tascam M30 8 channel mixer. Love the colored knobs. We’ll see how it sounds once I get a couple more cables. It’s weird to have a mixer with so many RCA connectors.
Taiwanese rice dumplings
I went back home to Florida for a friend’s wedding and ended up visiting at the same time as my grandmother. While she was in town, the we made these rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. A family recipe passed down from generation to generation. I need to figure out how to spell the name of these things. In mandarin, the name is Zongzi.
The filling is mainly made of sticky rice...
Super Bass Drum 2: Lost in New York
It’s been a while since I’ve posted so I have a backlog of pictures. This is going a ways back. Greg took another trip to Brooklyn to work on some music and we ended up making another super bass drum.
This was for a slow, melancholy, and quiet acoustic guitar based tune. The drum part is very sparse, so we played around with the kit a lot. We wanted a really warm and deep...

Mojave Audio MA-100 stereo pair
Just picked these up. These are my first small diaphragm tube condenser mics. I was in the market for a nice matched pair of omni mics, so when I saw these on ebay with cardiod and omni capsules, I couldn’t help myself. So far they’ve been used on grand piano hammers a few days ago and on a reverb-laden guitar overdub today and they sound awesome.
Classic API VP25 and VP26
A few weeks ago, I purchased these Classic API DIY preamps along with some DIY opamps. Sadly, I ruined one of the opamps, so the fourth preamp is out of commission at the moment.
I’ve been using these on many different sound sources and I’m loving them on everything. I don’t have many other high quality mic preamps to test them against, but I think they’re really...
Discrete Opamp
These are pictures of the gar2520 op amps I assembled for use in the Classic API preamps I purchased. The preamps are up and running and sound great.

Priorities
Paycheck for a month of work at one job: +$1537.50
RME multiface: -$315.00
Slightly busted Aphex 109 EQ: -$76.40
ART MPA preamp: -$124.79
2x VP25 and 2x VP26 Classic API 500 series preamps: -$918.33
total left: $2.98
If you count the falafel I bought at work today, I’m two cents in the hole. I’d say my priorities are straight.
Cannons →
Cannons is a band that, months ago, happened to play a show where I ran sound. It was one of those pleasant nights where I ended up actually enjoying the bands on the bill. I stayed in touch with the guys in the band and when they told me they were coming to New York for another show, I offered to record some demos for them.
So they stopped by Japam for a day and we ended up with the three...
Makeshift vocal booth
I used this to record vocals on “Softer (part 2)” and a song that will be on my upcoming record.

Recording a demo of "Three Futures"
I’m pretty happy with the Blue Baby Bottle on my voice. It’ll take some more trials, but of all my mics, it seems to tame the grossness around 5kHz the best.
